Practicing Thankfulness

6th grade has been learning and using positive adjectives to describe themselves and their friends or family. This week in honor of Thanksgiving (Nov. 28th), we created a wall art showcasing positive adjectives about oursevles that we are thankful to be.

¨FRIENDLY¨         ¨ARTISTIC ¨

    ¨CLEVER¨     ¨BEAUTIFUL¨

¨ FUNNY¨        ¨ DYNAMIC¨

  ¨ HARDWORKING ¨

¨FRIENDLY¨  ¨BRAVE¨

 ¨THOUGHTFUL¨   ¨CARING¨

Good luck on your exam next week 6th grade!

Rice Krispy pumpkins

This week our workshop and cooking class created rice krispy pumpkins. We learned a lot of new vocabulary about baking, but our most favorite new words were marshmellow and... (watch video below to find out!)

Below you can find the recipe:
Servings: 6 Prep Time 20 minutes Cook Time 5 minutes Total Time 25 minutes

Ingredients
  • 6 cups rice krispies cereal
  • 3 Tbsp salted butter
  • 1 (10 oz) pkg.  marshmallows
  • Orange food coloring
  • 3 pretzel/crackers sticks, end portions broken in half for 2 pieces
  • Non-stick cooking spray or oil

Instructions:
  1. Measure out rice krispies cereal and pour into a bowl. Melt butter in a 4 quart non-stick saucepan or pot over medium-low heat.
  2. Add marshmallows and stir and as they begin to melt start adding in the gel food coloring until desired color is achieved. Stir constantly until marshmallows have melted.
  3. Remove from heat then immediately pour in rice krispies cereal and gently stir and fold with a spatula until cereal is evenly coated. Let mixture cool slightly (until it's cool enough to handle with your hands).
  4. Spray hands with non-stick cooking spray/oil then shape rice krispie treat mixture into balls about the size of a baseball, then insert 1 piece of the pretzel/cracker stick into the top center and reshape the pumpkin as needed. Transfer to a plate or dish sprayed lightly with cooking spray.
  5. ENJOY!
  6. Store in an airtight container.

Clothes triptychs

The 5th grade project is finally finished! They have searched information about the typical clothes of different countries. They have worked in groups and the results are amazing.

Check them out!

Trivial game

This last days of school our teacher Micaela has prepared a trivial game to review concepts of the whole school year in a fun way.

First, they have to throw the dice and then check which form appears to see from which unit it belongs to. Then, they have to solve questions about the unit and can have the help of one book.

They had a lot of fun!

Guessing game

Our students of 4th grade reviewed their food vocabulary with a guessing game. The game consisted in dividing the class in two teams and drawing food with their eyes closed, at the end their classmates had to guess what it was.

Happy Lunar New Year

Happy New Year!

For everyone using the western calender, January 1st was the start of the New Year. For everyone using the lunar calender, the start of the new year began on February 5 2019.
The Lunar New Year is the start of the Spring Festival for many countries in Asia, including China, South Korea, and  Japan.

Lunar New Year is celebrated with wearing the lucky colour red, gathering with family, eating lots of delicious food and it is custom to give little red envelopes with money to children and young adults who are not married. In accordance with the Chinese Zodiac Calender, every year is celebrated with a different animal. 2019 is the Year of the Pig.

Check the image below to see what animal you are, depending on the year you were born!
